Adventure Planning: Apartment Attack

Planning for my Dresden Files GURPS game continues. Today, I’m going to focus on the intended first scene of the first session for “Clean Slate,” which is basically the adventure. There is only a single PC active here, Matias Torres.

 

Setting: A high-end hotel apartment in Dallas, Texas. Below is the floorplan that I’m planning on using.

Characters: 

  • Mat, of course.
  • Miranda Flores. – Her stats are already there at my Obsidian Portals site. In this sequence, she’ll be played by one of the PCs who is, conveniently, the wife of Mat’s player.
  • 2 Shooters (at the very least. I reserve the right to have additional shooters come in after the first pair if they go down too quickly.)
    • ST 12; DX 12; IQ 10; HT 12.
      Damage 1d-1/1d+2; BL 29 lbs.; HP 12; Will 10; Per 10; FP 12.
      Basic Speed 6; Basic Move 6; Dodge 8.
      5’11”, 190 lbs.

Sequence:

  • This is Miranda’s apartment.
  • Mat & Miranda are in bed. Both get Danger Sense checks (Mat has “Combat Sense” which includes this. A successful check allows their “spidey sense” to tingle and react.
    • ADDENDUM: This is Mat’s story, so rather than have him be in bed, he’ll start in the kitchen, having gotten up to get something to drink. Initially, he’s unarmed as his personal sidearm is in the bedroom, although Miranda may have additional pistols scattered throughout the apartment…
  • The shooters use their Forced Entry-13 to kick in the door. If neither Mat nor Miranda made Danger Sense check, this definitely alerts them. Both have Combat Reflexes so neither will be surprised.
  • Two rounds after the initial breach, the Red Court vampire comes in through the balcony window in an explosion of glass.
  • All hostiles are fanatic and fight to the death.

Mostly, the point of this is to let Mat’s player figure out what all he’s capable of doing since we rejiggered his character … and to get the ball rolling on his side of the meta-plot.
