To be honest, I didn’t even know this was a thing until I saw some people I follow on Odysse and YouTube commented on Disney using Twitter bots to defend it.

Watched the entirety of the series – I think? – yesterday and I have some conflicting thoughts. First … I’m sorry, but I was mostly bored by the Ahsoko eps. It felt more like Dave Filoni is absolutely in love with his creation and simply cannot let her go. Of the two episodes around her, I liked one and that was the one showing how hardcore some of Anakin’s training was.

The three Dooku eps, however, I really enjoyed and simply wanted more. I particularly dug the third episode where Palpatine … er … sorry … where Darth Sidious shows up. He’s always a plus. These snippets did a decent job of establishing how Dooku grew so disappointed with the Republic and the Jedi … though I still hate the whole Sifo-Dyas thing. Lucas made a misstep there, having Obi-Wan know the name and state that he had died in Episode II. Sifo-Dyas should never have existed at all and it should have been an pseudonym of Lord Sidious. Obi-Wan should have responded to the Kamino guy with a “I know all of the Jedi by name and have never heard of anyone named Sifo-Dyas…” or something like that.

As to the animation, its very much in the Clone Wars style so if you hate that, you probably wouldn’t like this either. Me personally, I’m kind of indifferent to it. I would not classify it as my favorite kind of animation style – although its better than what was in the Rebels show – but neither do I wholly hate it.

With a name of “Tales of the Jedi,” I would have liked more than just two POVs. I would have liked a Mace Windu POV story, or perhaps a very young Yoda just joining the Jedi Order some 800 years earlier, etc.

So, not something I’d recommend as “must see” but more of a “if you’re bored and have nothing else to do, this isn’t terrible…”

Which, I must admit, is probably damning it with faint praise…
